The 2010 Strawberry Festival started with a preview on Thursday night which drew about 26 eager people who got to choose the best books, jewelry, and artwork and spent a considerable amount of money. Friday traffic was steady and book and jewelry sales were brisk. Friday evening began with a delightful lobster dinner under our yellow striped tent. While people enjoyed the good food, they were treated to a fantastic concert by the Pinetree Community Band some members of which belong to SFC. We are so grateful for their contribution truly making this a community event. Saturday the weather cooperated and people came to buy an awesome selection of pies. This event earning over $500 exceeds its previous profits every year. Shortcakes made a perfect dessert for the lobster roll luncheon which continued long after the rolls were sold out and hot dogs were the menu.
The front lawn which had been covered with beautiful plants for several weeks slowly emptied of over $800 worth of plants.
The lovely quilts were displayed at the library and community center, as well as every Sunday after church. Many more raffle tickets were sold during the festival bringing in well over $300, and three winners were drawn on Saturday afternoon.
Of course the books were the feature item and there was a tremendous selection which brought in excess of $1700 for scholarships.
Food as usual was a big draw bringing in over $1300 in profit, and diners were not disappointed.
Jewelry and artwork totaling about $1100 was sold with no item priced above $25 and many at $.25 !
Thanks to all the people who took responsibility for an event, planned, and carried it though and to all of you who worked the festival. We cannot do this type of fundraising without that commitment.
We also want to acknowledge the large role that contributions from members of the community and church make to these sales. All those plants, books, jewelry, pieces of artwork came from YOU.
Thank you.
