HAITIAN RELIEF

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING

The Church Council, at its meeting on January 20, agreed that all monies that the church receives for the annual One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) will be for Haitian Relief.  The United Church of Christ has issued an urgent appeal for member churches to donate money in this manner.  The UCC is receiving on-line donations for those that care to give that way.  The denomination has already received close to $300,000 in such donations.  See Shooner News for more info.


Evening Presentation:

A Trip to the Holy Land

Our first Lenten activity will be on February 28. Mabel and Peter Gerquest would like to share highlights from their 50th Anniversary trip to the   Mediterranean and Holy Land. We will gather at 5 pm to eat a soup and bread potluck meal and watch a film with personal accounts from Peter and Mabel. Sign up for soup, bread, beverage or dessert.


BOOKSALE

Please save your books and bring them to the church for the spring sale to benefit the Mission Scholarship Fund.  These scholarships are given to students in the greater Freeport area who intend to pursue a secondary education.  If you know anyone who is cleaning out books, please tell them about our event.  Variety and quantity have always been hallmarks of our sale, as well as value.
